I will miss team nv athletics

Dear athletes,

I am presently at KK hospital waiting for Alyxa. She's not feeling well. That is why I'm here at 2am. There are a lot of things going in my mind now. And I think I'll share with you.

It's been 5 years I've coached the team and after 2 years, the team did well and started winning several medals. I remembered the first time our team won the national cross country back in 2011 and  subsequently 2012. In addition, I remember the joy of qualifying for the national track finals and the best result would be this year- national cross medal, 9 national track finals and 1 athlete chosen to represent Singapore.

I will never forget the hard work put in by the team. The  camaraderie and the bond shared among the members. I will never forget when the team broke traditions and started to share the podium with the elite schools. This is a testament of hardwork and faith. And that if you work hard, you will excel in your work.

Now, as I think about the times we ran together, train together and even played games together, it brings tears to my eyes as I'm really proud to see you guys bloom.

From 2013, I am stepping down as the coach for the team. For the older students, you'll know I'm a frank and earnest person. I really feel sad to stop. But it is inevitable. I remembered I kept telling myself that I have to be strong and not show my sadness when i address you guys. That is why I chose to write it all down.

Remember that all of you are good. You have the potential. And you will do well. The future belongs to you and you shape the future.

I will always remember all of you fondly. I know I've tried my best and if the best is not good enough, I can only say I've put in all.

Remember to be strong and I will miss you all. Always put in your best and I am glad to have nurtured so many excellent athletes and people of fine character.

Alyxa is still under observation and I believe one day, she may take up running. And I hope one of you will coach her like the way I coached you.

One team one race team NV.

- Coach and training partner always.
